ISU Launches ‍‍`Spandex‍‍` Magazine to Foster Innovation in Textile Engineering

International Standard University (ISU) has marked a significant milestone in fostering student creativity and innovative thinking with the launch of the first edition of its specialized magazine, ‘Spandex.’ Organized by the ISU Textile Club, the unveiling ceremony took place on Thursday, April 23, at the university‍‍`s Media Lab. The magazine serves as a dedicated platform for textile engineering students to express their analytical thoughts, present new ideas, and bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial practice.

The inauguration was led by the Vice-Chancellor of ISU, Professor Dr. Abdul Awal Khan, as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Professor Md. Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Chairperson of the Department of Textile Engineering. During the ceremony, Dr. Khan highlighted the critical role of the textile sector in the national economy. He emphasized that for the industry to sustain its growth, young professionals must focus on innovation and problem-solving strategies. He remarked that ‘Spandex’ would empower students to connect their theoretical knowledge with current industrial trends.

Professor Dr. Abdul Awal Khan further encouraged students to venture beyond the confines of traditional textbooks. He stated that engagement in creative writing and analytical thinking is essential for a successful career in the modern world. According to the Vice-Chancellor, ‘Spandex’ provides an effective platform for students to gain practical insights and build a portfolio of ideas that will benefit their future careers. He urged the students to use this opportunity to document their research and innovative solutions to common industrial challenges.

In his presidential address, Professor Md. Abul Kashem stressed the importance of presentation skills and analytical capacity in professional success. He noted that the magazine would play a pivotal role in honing these skills. By contributing to ‘Spandex,’ students can delve into the realities of the textile world, uncovering new concepts and addressing contemporary issues, which will ultimately make them more competitive in the job market.

The ceremony was attended by Assistant Professor Shamima Siddika, Senior Lecturer Habiba Altaf, and Lecturer Md. Hasibul Hasan, along with other department heads and enthusiastic students. Published by the ISU Textile Club, ‘Spandex’ is set to become a recurring publication, documenting the evolving landscape of textile engineering through the lens of young, aspiring engineers. The launch concluded with a sense of excitement and a renewed commitment to academic excellence and industry-aligned innovation at ISU.
