LeBron James continues to defy the laws of aging as he led the Los Angeles Lakers to a commanding 3-0 series lead in the Western Conference playoffs. The 41-year-old superstar, currently competing in his 19th postseason, delivered a masterful 29-point performance to secure a 112-108 overtime victory against the Houston Rockets on Friday night.

The win puts the Lakers on the verge of a series sweep, a feat few expected given the current injuries to key starters Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

The game reached a fever pitch in the final seconds of regulation when James executed a critical steal and drained a game-tying three-pointer with just 13.6 seconds left on the clock. Although he missed a potential game-winner at the buzzer, his defensive prowess remained evident in overtime as he recorded another steal and a crucial block.

James finished the night with 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in what he described as seizing the opportunity given by his teammates‍‍` trust. Marcus Smart proved to be the X-factor for Los Angeles, scoring eight of his 21 points in the extra period.

Despite the loss, the young Houston Rockets showed remarkable resilience. Led by Alperen Sengun’s 33 points and 16 rebounds, Houston rallied from an early 15-point deficit and even held a six-point lead with less than half a minute remaining in regulation.

However, costly turnovers and a foul on Marcus Smart during a three-point attempt allowed the Lakers to crawl back. With veteran Kevin Durant sidelined by a sprained ankle, the Rockets struggled to maintain their composure during the high-stakes overtime session.

In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics regained control of their series against the Philadelphia 76ers with a 108-100 win. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown each scored 25 points to give Boston a 2-1 lead. Tatum, who has spent much of the season recovering from a major Achilles injury sustained in the previous playoffs, showed no signs of hesitation as he hit a decisive three-pointer in the closing minutes.

The 76ers were led by Tyrese Maxey‍‍`s 31 points but clearly felt the absence of star center Joel Embiid, who remains out following an emergency appendectomy.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs demonstrated their depth by defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 120-108 without the services of Victor Wembanyama.

The league‍‍`s Defensive Player of the Year was sidelined due to a concussion sustained in the previous game. Stephon Castle stepped up in his absence, scoring a career-high 33 points, while Dylan Harper added 27 points and 10 rebounds. Despite trailing by 15 points in the third quarter, the Spurs utilized a 21-5 run to silence the Portland crowd and take a 2-1 series lead.

As the playoffs move toward the second round, the narrative remains centered on the enduring brilliance of LeBron James and the resilience of teams facing significant injuries. No team in NBA history has ever recovered from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoff series, placing immense pressure on the Rockets as they prepare for Game 4 on Sunday.

For the Celtics and Spurs, the focus will be on maintaining their momentum as they seek to capitalize on their hard-earned series leads in hostile environments.
