The World Assembly of Muslim Youth has launched a massive cultural exhibition in Mexico during the 2026 FIFA World Cup to showcase the beauty of Islamic and Arab civilization, Al Jazeera and Arab News reported on Sunday. Titled Inspiring Civilization, the primary objective of this expansive initiative is to introduce the millions of international football fans and visitors to the core humanitarian values of Islam, the rich heritage of Arab culture, and the historical contributions of Islamic civilization to modern science and society. Organized as a central highlight of the cultural festivities surrounding the global sporting event, the exhibition has quickly attracted significant international attention from diverse tourist groups.

The grand exhibition features 11 specialized pavilions meticulously designed to showcase different facets of Islamic history, philosophy, art, and scientific advancements through interactive models, rare books, authentic publications, and educational documentaries. Visitors from various non-Muslim and Western backgrounds are being offered immersive cultural experiences, including the unique opportunity to wear traditional Arab garments such as the thobe, shemagh, and bisht for memorable photo sessions. Additionally, traditional henna art stations and interactive hijab-wearing experiences are available, allowing global tourists to engage directly with the living customs and traditions of the Muslim world.

A central attraction of the entire exhibition space is a grand pavilion dedicated exclusively to the history and architecture of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia. This specific section provides international visitors with highly detailed architectural models, historical photographs, and informative multimedia displays detailing the continuous modern expansion projects of Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina. The displays prominently highlight the advanced management systems, infrastructural developments, and extensive facilities provided annually to millions of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from around the globe, leaving an impression of efficiency on the viewers.

To deliver the authentic essence of traditional Arab hospitality, organizers have constructed a massive, beautifully decorated Arabian tent within the main exhibition grounds. Visitors are warmly welcomed into the tent and served traditional Arabic coffee, premium dates, and various culinary delicacies, allowing them to experience the profound warmth and hospitality inherent in Islamic social customs. Furthermore, the reach of the campaign has been extended directly into the city‍‍`s transport infrastructure, with a specialized information center established inside a major metro tunnel. This transit center distributes thousands of free maps alongside informative booklets on Islamic contributions to global civilization, while volunteers across 7 distinct information hubs actively answer public questions.

What remains unclear is how effectively these short-term cultural exhibitions can counter deep-seated Islamophobic narratives or foster long-term intercultural dialogue beyond the duration of the international sporting event. Sociological experts note that utilizing global sports events like the football World Cup provides an unprecedented platform for cultural diplomacy, allowing misunderstood heritages to present their narratives directly to a diverse global audience. By integrating interactive elements and personal human engagement, the World Assembly of Muslim Youth seeks to demystify Islamic traditions and build bridges of mutual respect, demonstrating that the universal values of compassion, hospitality, and knowledge remain at the core of the Muslim faith.
