All Blacks Crush Wallabies to Claim Thirteenth Straight Bledisloe Victory

The New Zealand All Blacks delivered a crushing 43-21 defeat to the Wallabies in Sydney on Saturday, securing their thirteenth straight Bledisloe Cup Test victory. This emphatic result marks a second heavy loss in a week for the hosts, raising serious questions about their ambitions for the upcoming World Cup.

From the outset, the visitors were far too fast at the breakdown. The All Blacks advanced the ball almost at will while dismantling Australian attacking forays through defensive pressure and execution errors.

Wallabies captain Harry Wilson offered a blunt assessment after the match. It is not good enough for this group, and we have to be a lot better, he told Channel Nine.

We have to start better. We had a terrible second half in the first game. We had a terrible first half this game, Wilson added. In the second half, we showed a bit of grit, but it is too late, mate. We cannot be that far behind.

Coach Les Kiss was equally scathing about his team’s opening period. There has to be a little bit more thinking about what it really means to actually turn up in that first half and make sure we don’t make those errors that we did, Kiss said. It is just not acceptable what was put out there.

The match effectively ended before halftime. A key moment arrived when All Blacks winger Josh Moorby scored his second try after a feigned overhead pass completely fooled Max Jorgensen and Ryan Lonergan, leaving the pair stationary as the winger crossed untouched.

The All Blacks overcame early disruption when Jordie Barrett pulled out due to calf tightness and Quinn Tupaea left the field dazed after hitting his head on the turf within the first minute. New Zealand still capitalised on early Australian errors. Fraser McReight dropped the ball at an attacking lineout, allowing Beauden Barrett to finish a midfield break engineered by Damian McKenzie.

Australia briefly found relief when Declan Meredith put Jeremy Williams over for a try. Meredith was soon yellow-carded following an offside call, and Wallace Sititi quickly punished the hosts from the base of the scrum. An intercepted pass by Barrett leading to another runaway try left the score at 36-7 by the interval.

After Moorby scored early in the second half, the Australian bench helped stem the flow of points. Jorgensen, Tom Wright, and Harry Potter combined to set up Australia’s second try, and Filipo Daugunu crossed later after quick thinking from Meredith and Wright. Harry McLaughlin-Phillips also came off the bench to make his debut as the match wound down.

The victory provides a strong response for the All Blacks after their series defeat to South Africa, confirming their status as major challengers for the next World Cup. The Wallabies must now prepare for four Tests in Europe before facing a long off-season break.
