Vomiting During Heatwaves: Causes and Critical Remedies

Severe heatwaves are currently sweeping across both urban and rural regions, causing widespread physical discomfort among citizens. As temperatures escalate rapidly from the early morning hours, the human body struggles to maintain its natural thermal balance. This extreme weather has triggered various acute health complications, with many individuals experiencing sudden onset of vomiting and severe dizziness.Vomiting during heatwaves is primarily driven by heat exhaustion and rapid dehydration.

When the body is exposed to elevated temperatures, extreme sweating can induce nausea alongside a significant drop in energy levels. Furthermore, summer conditions accelerate the proliferation of harmful bacteria and pathogens in unhygienic food and water supplies. Consuming contaminated items frequently leads to gastrointestinal infections, compounding the urge to vomit. To counter these symptoms, individuals must immediately retreat from direct sunlight to a well-ventilated, cool environment.

Rehydration remains the primary line of defense, requiring the patient to consume Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) slowly. If the condition is accompanied by stomach upset, a complete packet of ORS should be dissolved thoroughly in one liter of clean water and administered incrementally. Anti-emetic medications such as Ondansetron are highly effective in halting the continuous sensation of nausea. However, if the patient vomits within 30 minutes of oral intake, the dosage must be repeated to ensure therapeutic efficacy.

In persistent cases where oral therapies fail to alleviate the symptoms, immediate clinical consultation is required for potential intravenous or intramuscular injections. Expectant mothers must strictly avoid these medications without prior professional medical authorization to prevent severe gestational risks. During recovery, individuals should avoid oily or highly spiced meals, opting instead for light, easily digestible options to restore stomach equilibrium.
