Nearly 500 Houthi fighters were neutralized during recent military operations across multiple fronts in Yemen. Army spokesman Majed al-Nuzaili released the figures as clashes continue.
,The statement did not give a breakdown of the dead and wounded. Al-Nuzaili posted on X that the operations also destroyed or damaged 169 vehicles, heavy weapons and pieces of equipment.
,The actions targeted Houthi positions, supply routes, reinforcements, fortifications and firing positions as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen.
,Government forces recaptured several positions and advanced on the al-Jawf front in northern Yemen. They earlier secured the strategic Huwayshian mountain range in al-Jawf, which served as a forward defensive line for the Houthi-held provincial capital of al-Hazm.
,Troops also operated in Marib, al-Bayda, Lahj and Taiz. In Taiz, army troops and allied Popular Resistance fighters clashed with the Houthis with support from artillery, drones and warplanes.
,Al-Nuzaili said forces are taking precautions to protect civilians. The army earlier shot down two Houthi drones and carried out airstrikes in the al-Misrakh district, south of Taiz.
,The Interior Ministry stated that a Houthi drone strike on a residential home in western Taiz killed a woman and a young girl, while injuring another woman.
,Yemeni government forces launched Operation Dawn of Yemen on Oct. 5 to restore state institutions and retake Sanaa. A renewed military escalation between the two sides began in July.
,UN reports say the fighting has killed and wounded thousands of people and displaced more than a quarter of a million. It ended a period of relative calm that started in April 2022, compounding the humanitarian crisis.
,Yemen has been locked in conflict since September 2014, when the Houthis seized Sanaa and several other provinces. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015 to support the internationally recognized government.
