Sonal Dinusha anchored a remarkable batting rearguard with an unbeaten 133 to help Sri Lanka salvage a draw against India on the final day of the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, according to Al Jazeera and ANI reports. India had enforced the follow-on after posting a commanding first-innings total of 503-9 declared and restricting the hosts to 290.
Faced with a daunting deficit and the threat of a series sweep, Sri Lanka produced an exceptional display of grit in their second innings. Dinusha forged vital partnerships, notably adding 112 runs with Keshara Nuwantha, who contributed 46 runs before falling to Manav Suthar. Pasindu Sooriyabandara also anchored the top order with a gritty 92, while Kamindu Mendis chipped in with 55 runs.
Despite disciplined spells from Indian bowlers Ravindra Jadeja and Manav Suthar, who picked up three wickets each, Dinusha remained immovable at the crease. He faced 264 deliveries for his magnificent 133, securing his second century of the match and third of the series. When the players shook hands with Sri Lanka at 429-9, the hosts successfully avoided defeat. India claimed the two-match series 1-0, while Dinusha was named player of the match for his stellar performance.
