Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman Leaves Dhaka to Perform Hajj

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, has departed for Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Hajj. He left Dhaka through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. He briefly exchanged pleasantries with party leaders and activists at the airport before his departure.

The tour is explicitly dedicated to fulfilling his religious obligations in Makkah and Madinah.

Senior party officials gathered at the airport to bid him a formal farewell. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former lawmaker Mia Golam Parwar was present to see him off. Central Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer and Central Executive Council member Mubarak Hossain also attended the farewell gathering. Dhaka North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin and Barrister Najibaur Rahman Momen were among the other prominent figures present at the terminal.

The gathered activists offered special prayers for his sound health and a safe journey.

Party sources confirmed that the Jamaat chief will perform various Hajj rituals during his stay in Saudi Arabia. He is expected to offer special prayers seeking the overall welfare and prosperity of the nation. He is officially scheduled to return to Bangladesh on June 1 after completing his pilgrimage.
