Popular Bangladeshi film actor Zayed Khan narrowly escaped a potentially fatal accident while performing at a cultural event in the US state of Oklahoma. The actor caught fire during a high-energy stage performance organized for the local Bengali expatriate community. According to Khan, he was rescued just in time by the event staff, avoiding what could have been a catastrophic tragedy. The incident has left the actor with minor injuries, and he is currently undergoing treatment and resting under medical supervision.
Recounting the harrowing experience, Zayed Khan explained that the mishap occurred during his grand entry onto the stage. He was performing a stunt involving a motorcycle, which was fitted with pyrotechnics or "fire wax" containers at both the front and rear to create a dramatic visual effect. However, as he navigated the motorcycle onto the main stage, the flames unexpectedly splattered onto his body, igniting his clothing. The sudden flare-up caused panic among the audience, but the actor showed remarkable resilience by continuing his performance for a brief period despite the pain.
"I survived by a whisker," Zayed Khan told reporters from his residence in the United States. "My body actually caught fire while I was on the motorcycle. Out of professionalism, I continued to perform in that state, which unfortunately worsened the condition of my burns. If the rescue team hadn`t intervened as quickly as they did, I might have been burnt to ashes. The fire was spreading fast, and everything around the stage was highly flammable." Khan’s quick rescue prevented the fire from causing deeper tissue damage or spreading to the stage equipment.
Immediately following the performance, Khan was rushed for medical attention. Doctors at the scene provided primary care, and his wounds were later cleaned and bandaged. The actor is currently on medication to manage the pain and prevent infection. Although the injuries are not life-threatening, the physical and psychological toll of the accident has been significant. Khan mentioned that he is currently bandaged and in a state of rest, following the advice of healthcare professionals in Oklahoma.
The news of the accident has sparked widespread concern among his fans back in Bangladesh and across the global diaspora. Social media platforms have been flooded with messages wishing the actor a speedy recovery. Zayed Khan has been traveling extensively over the past few months, performing at various international venues to engage with the Bangladeshi community. This incident highlights the inherent risks involved in live stage performances, especially those incorporating fire-based pyrotechnics. For now, the actor’s priority remains a full recovery before he considers returning to the stage for his upcoming scheduled shows.
