Popular Tollywood actor and former lawmaker Soham Chakraborty has received severe death threats over a financial dispute. A film producer allegedly threatened him over the phone on Tuesday night. The conflict centers around an unreturned advance payment for a movie that was abandoned eight years ago. Indian media outlets reported the incident citing the actor`s official complaints.
The dispute involves a project initiated back in 2018.
Soham received an advance signing amount of 1.5 million rupees to act in a film directed by Mahua Chakraborty. The director abruptly left the project shortly after initial filming began. She cited highly unprofessional behavior and misconduct by producer Tarun Das as the primary reason for her sudden departure. The movie never saw the light of day following her exit.Producer Tarun Das recently demanded the massive advance money back.

Industry norms generally dictate that advance payments are non-refundable unless the actor voluntarily quits the project. Soham flatly refused to return the money since he never abandoned the film himself. The producer allegedly raided Soham`s office in response to the firm refusal. He then escalated the situation by hurling verbal abuse and issuing death threats over a phone call on Tuesday night.
The producer has publicly presented a completely different version of events.
Das claims the film could not be completed because Soham repeatedly failed to allocate proper shooting schedules. Soham dismissed these specific allegations as entirely baseless and fabricated. The actor stated that he had ample time available for the scheduled production. He is now preparing to take strict legal action against the producer to ensure his personal safety.
