Türkiye Urges Islamic World to Unite on Palestine in Baghdad

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan urged the Islamic world to unite and take joint action on regional challenges, with a primary focus on Palestine. His remarks followed the 52nd session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers held in the Iraqi capital on Saturday.

Writing on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Fidan detailed the message delivered during the gathering.

"In our speech at the OIC meeting, we showed the need to stand in solidarity in the face of global and regional challenges and the importance of acting together on all issues concerning the Islamic world, particularly Palestine," Fidan said.

Alongside the multilateral meetings, the Turkish foreign minister held a series of bilateral discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad. Fidan met with Iraqi President Nizar Amedi, Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, and parliament Speaker Heibet Halbusi.

His itinerary also included talks with Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zaidan and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein. Further discussions involved Popular Mobilization Forces Commission Chairman Falih al-Fayyad, National Security Adviser Qasim al-Abboudi, and Iraqi Turkmen Front President and Kirkuk Governor Mehmet Seman Agaoglu.

According to the Turkish foreign minister, these meetings covered bilateral ties across all dimensions, focusing on plans to deepen cooperation in trade, energy, and security. He expressed gratitude to his hosts for their hospitality.

Fidan held separate consultations with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to review progress in resolving ongoing regional conflicts.

"As Türkiye, we will resolutely continue our efforts to strengthen solidarity in the Islamic world, defend the rights of the oppressed, and make constructive contributions to peace and prosperity in our region," Fidan stated.
