Lebanese Army Rejects Israeli Claims on Hezbollah Disarmament

The Lebanese military dismissed assertions casting doubt on its capacity to carry out duties south of the Litani River. The dispute centers on a military facility in the Kfarra area within the Bint Jbeil district, where Israel accused Beirut of failing to prevent Hezbollah activity.

Israeli military spokeswoman Ella Waweya alleged on Tuesday that the Lebanese army failed to curb Hezbollah operations in the southern sector. She claimed that the group continued operating at the Kfarra site and transported weapons by truck, releasing video footage to support the assertion.

Responding to the allegations, the Lebanese army stated that its units started working at the facility in December 2025. Operations were suspended on March 16 after Israel threatened to strike the location.

The monitoring committee requested the suspension, according to the military statement. The committee was informed that weapons and ammunition remained inside the installation before Israeli forces subsequently bombed the site.

The army stated that Israel repeatedly blocked attempts to restart work at the Kfarra facility. Operations eventually resumed on August 15 in direct coordination with the monitoring committee.

The installation was completely cleared and permanently closed on October 16, the army added. The military also addressed the footage shared by Israel, stating that the video was actually filmed on July 3 near the southern town of Seddikine, shortly after a diplomatic framework agreement was concluded.

The army reiterated that every action taken by its forces was documented by the oversight committee. It reaffirmed its dedication to existing agreements while accusing Israel of ongoing military attacks and violations.

Lebanon and Israel signed a US-sponsored framework agreement on June 26. The pact provides for a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops, the deployment of the Lebanese army, and the disarmament of Hezbollah.

Despite the accord, Israel has persisted with attacks on southern Lebanon since March 2. These military actions have killed and injured thousands of people while displacing more than 1.5 million residents, alongside ongoing Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory.
