One Killed and Eight Injured at Saudi Arabia Dammam Airport

One person died and eight individuals sustained injuries in an attack targeting King Fahd International Airport in the eastern city of Dammam, the Saudi civil aviation authority announced on Wednesday.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that all of the wounded people, whose medical conditions vary from minor to critical, were transferred to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Ministry of Energy stated that two people died after Saudi air defences intercepted an unmanned drone heading toward a facility at the Shaybah oilfield operated by Saudi Aramco.

These incidents represent the latest escalation in a sequence of assaults directed at Saudi airports. The conflict involves Houthi forces and the Saudi-backed, internationally recognised Yemeni government.

Saudi authorities reported a projectile strike last week on October 11 at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. That attack resulted in one death and left 11 people wounded.

Another attack hit the same Riyadh airport on October 10. The civil aviation authority confirmed that the earlier strike caused 12 deaths and left more than 300 people injured.

The US State Department instructed diplomats and their family members to leave diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

US officials told Reuters that Washington also plans to withdraw family members from several other American diplomatic missions across the region.

The US embassy in Riyadh published a security alert on Wednesday warning of potential future attacks by Houthi forces targeting Saudi Arabia.
