Israeli Air Strikes and Shelling Kill Four People Including Child in Gaza

Israeli military strikes killed at least four Palestinians, including a child, across central and southern Gaza on Thursday, medical sources said.

Medical staff at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah reported that 27-year-old Abdul Rahim Walid Matar died at dawn when an Israeli drone struck a tent sheltering displaced people west of az-Zawayda. Another drone attack in az-Zawayda killed a second person.

In Khan Younis, the Nasser Medical Complex stated that a woman was killed and two other people were wounded by Israeli fire outside areas under military control. Residents east of Khan Younis reported two powerful explosions as the army blew up homes and civilian facilities inside areas it controls.

A source at al-Awda Hospital confirmed that a child was killed instantly by Israeli gunfire in the Bureij refugee camp. Field reports from Deir el-Balah showed that Israeli forces opened direct fire on homes and tents in eastern Bureij. A man sitting inside his tent was critically wounded and underwent surgery at Nasser Medical Complex.

An Israeli drone also targeted a gathering of residents in the al-Baraka area of Deir el-Balah, wounding several people, one critically.

In northern Gaza, a source at al-Shifa Hospital said a Palestinian was wounded when a drone hit an apartment in al-Karama, northwest of Gaza City. Israeli artillery carried out heavy shelling in eastern Gaza City at the same time, while naval vessels directed fire toward the coastline.

Local sources reported that Israeli military vehicles fired heavily around the Hosni al-Musaddar Mosque east of Maghazi camp. A drone also dropped a bomb there without causing injuries, while forces pushed forward on the eastern edges of al-Musaddar and Deir el-Balah, bulldozing homes and farmland.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that the overall death toll since the conflict began in October 2023 has reached 74,618 killed and 175,920 wounded.
