Israel has issued tenders for 91 new settlement housing units in the occupied West Bank, according to an official announcement on Tuesday. The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported that the construction is planned for the illegal Oranit settlement, which sits on land in the Qalqilya governorate. The 91 proposed units are divided across seven compounds.
The first tender covers four compounds designated for 86 multi-story housing units. A second tender includes three compounds for five low-rise settlement units.
Bidding for these new units opens on 16 November and closes on 29 December.
The commission also stated that Israel has revised the timetable for Tender Number 460/2025. This tender relates directly to the E1 settlement project located east of Jerusalem near the illegal Ma’ale Adumim settlement.
Under the updated schedule, the opening of bidding and the publication of detailed tender documents have been postponed to 1 December. The deadline for submitting bids is now 28 December.
A number of Arab, Muslim and Western nations recently rejected Israeli moves to advance the E1 project. Governments warned that the plan would damage prospects for a two-state solution, which is backed by United Nations resolutions and envisages an independent Palestinian state existing alongside Israel.
Israeli military attacks and occupier violence against Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have sharply escalated since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
The violence has involved killings, arrests, home demolitions, property destruction, bulldozing of agricultural land, forced displacement and settlement expansion. Palestinians warn that these measures are paving the way for Israel to formally annex the occupied West Bank.
