New York Archive Hosts 3.5 Million Pages of Epstein Files

An unassuming gallery located in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City has been transformed into a massive physical repository of legal documents. Situated just a mile from the Manhattan jail where convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019, the installation houses over 3.5 million pages of law enforcement files published by the United States Department of Justice. The project represents an attempt to secure a measure of accountability and transparency for the survivors and victims of Epstein‍‍`s extensive crimes. The extensive documentation is compiled into 3,437 individual volumes lining the walls.

Titled “The Donald J Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room”, the exhibition was coordinated by the Institute for Primary Facts. This non-profit organization focuses on public transparency and anti-corruption initiatives. Epstein was arrested on federal sex trafficking charges in July 2017 but hung himself in his jail cell a month later, depriving his victims of a formal trial. This reading room serves to shed light on information regarding cases connected to the financier that never made it to a courtroom.

The shelves contain documents made available through the Epstein Files Transparency Act, organized alongside detailed timelines and handwritten visitor logs. It also incorporates a memorial space specifically dedicated to the survivors and individuals impacted by the offenses. Since its public opening two weeks ago, the location has attracted a steady stream of visitors, including researchers and individuals directly affected by the historical cases.

Lara Blume McGee, who experienced abuse by Epstein at the age of 17, visited the reading room recently. She explained that seeing the vast catalog of documents provided a form of validation for those who survived the ordeal. For McGee, the physical archive stands as tangible proof that their experiences were substantial enough to be recorded, gathered, and officially acknowledged by the public.
