Conversely, his separation from the Prophet and the terrifying uncertainty of standing before the Creator on the Day of Judgment regularly brought him to tears.
Righteous predecessors consistently competed with one another to preserve every single moment of their worldly lives for devotional purposes. This unyielding dedication to time management was exemplified by Amir ibn Abd Qays, who challenged an individual looking to waste his time with idle talk to stop the sun from moving first. Every passing second represents an irreplaceable asset that a true believer must strategically allocate toward preparing for eternal life.
Similarly, Abu Hatim al-Asamm warned that a heart devoid of divine remembrance suffers from an incurable spiritual affliction. He identified four structural anxieties regarding destiny, resurrection, and final judgment that prevent a true believer from ever becoming complacent in this worldly life. The inherent uncertainty of one`s preordained destiny and final placement in paradise or hellfire serves to cultivate absolute humility within the human soul.
