Israeli Strikes Kill Four Palestinians in Gaza Despite Ceasefire

Palestinian officials reported that Israeli strikes killed four people in Gaza on Wednesday. The attacks occurred days after the anniversary of a US-mediated ceasefire.

Civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal and Nasser Hospital stated that two young men died when Israeli forces struck a vehicle near Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Bassal and Al-Shifa hospital reported that two other individuals, including a woman, died when an Israeli aircraft struck an apartment building in Gaza City.

The Israeli military did not immediately provide details regarding the strikes. Earlier on Wednesday, the military announced it had killed more than 100 fighters over the past four months during an operation in the northern Gaza Strip, adding that it had destroyed approximately eight kilometres or five miles of tunnels used by militants.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces a tight reelection battle this month. He has vowed no let-up in targeting Hamas despite the ceasefire that went into effect on October 10, 2025, which led Hamas to free its remaining living hostages.

Hamas led an attack into Israel on October 7, 2023, marking the deadliest day for the country. That assault resulted in the deaths of 1,221 people, according to an official tally from Israeli figures, while militants dragged 251 hostages into Gaza, including 44 who were already dead.

Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has killed more than 74,300 people, according to the territory’s health ministry. The ministry operates under Hamas, and its figures are generally considered reliable by the United Nations.
