A Miami jury on Tuesday found NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill liable for two counts of battery against his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro. The verdict concluded a high-profile civil trial involving the football player, who has represented the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins.
Jurors awarded Vaccaro 500,000 dollars in compensatory damages, but gave no punitive damages.
The jury found the 32-year-old athlete liable on two specific counts. One stemmed from an incident in January 2024, and the second arose from an occurrence in April 2025.
At the same time, the panel cleared Hill of eight other claims. Those dismissed counts included additional allegations of battery, assault, and continuing domestic violence.
During the proceedings, 30-year-old Vaccaro took the stand to detail allegations of abuse. She described instances where Hill allegedly pulled her hair and treated her poorly. The jury also examined a photograph taken by Vaccaro showing marks on her chest, which she stated occurred during a dispute between the pair.
Hill testified during the trial last week. He largely denied what he termed false allegations from his estranged wife, though he acknowledged on one occasion that he shoved Vaccaro and created a hole in a wall.
Following the verdict, Hill embraced one of his attorneys and shook hands with other members of his legal team. He then exited the courtroom alone.
Paul Schwiep, an attorney representing Vaccaro, had asked the panel to restore her dignity and initially sought eight million dollars in damages. Speaking after the case, Schwiep said that financial compensation does not undo past harm, but represents the function of the civil justice system.
Christi Bright spoke to reporters on behalf of the defense. Bright stated that Hill felt very pleased to share his story and address matters he had previously been unable to discuss, adding that the player felt very grateful.
Hill is currently recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ligaments sustained in September 2025 while playing for the Dolphins. Despite the injury and the legal proceedings, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has indicated that Hill intends to return to the NFL.
