US Congresswoman Delia Ramirez Urges Passage of Block the Bombs Act

United States Congresswoman Delia Ramirez stated that Israel is committing a genocide against Palestinians funded by American taxpayers. The Illinois Democrat shared her remarks on X.

Ramirez pointed to ongoing Israeli airstrikes that continue to kill children and families in Gaza. She warned that half a million Palestinians are set to lose access to food and assistance.

She asserted that whether by bombs or through starvation, the genocide has not ended. The legislator stated that this violence must end and suggested starting by passing her proposed legislation.

The measure is known as the Block the Bombs Act or House Resolution 3565. Ramirez introduced the bill last year alongside fellow Democrats Sara Jacobs, Pramila Jayapal and Mark Pocan.

The proposed legislation would block specific military transfers to Israel. These restricted items include BLU-109 bunker-busting bombs and MK80 series bombs, alongside GBU-39 small diameter bomb variants and Joint Direct Attack Munitions. The list also covers SPICE gliding bomb assemblies.

The measure targets 120mm tank ammunition and 155mm artillery ammunition, including white phosphorus munitions.

Israel has waged a military campaign on Gaza since October 2023. The conflict has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and injured over 175,000 others.

The widespread destruction has affected approximately 90 percent of civilian infrastructure in the territory.

Figures from Gaza’s Health Ministry indicate that ceasefire violations by Israel have killed 1,534 Palestinians and injured 5,486 others.
