Palestinians Rally in Hebron to Demand Return of Displaced Families

Palestinians displaced by the Israeli army gathered near Al-Jalda Square on Tuesday to demand an end to their displacement. The group, including women, children and elderly residents, assembled near the square because the area is sealed off by Israeli forces.

Demonstrators called for the removal of military closures and demanded access to their properties in the Al-Jalda and Ein Deir Baha neighborhoods. Israeli forces continue to seal off both sectors during raids and property searches.

The military operation began on Friday after an attack by two Palestinians left two Israeli soldiers dead and three others wounded. The Israeli army killed both attackers.

The military then imposed strict closures across Hebron and surrounding villages. Soldiers seized Palestinian houses in Al-Jalda and Ein Deir Baha, converting them into military posts and raising Israeli flags over some of them.

The raids involve incursions into residential neighborhoods, blocked city entrances and orders forcing residents to leave their homes. Security forces also demolished or damaged homes, commercial properties and local infrastructure during the first days of the campaign.

Hebron Municipality stated on Tuesday that 4,969 individuals from 780 families have been displaced by the operations. The Palestinian Prisoner Society reported that Israeli forces arrested 110 people across the governorate between Friday and Wednesday.

Military closures have halted in-person classes at 66 schools, disrupting education for 2,872 students. Among them, 2,198 children live under direct closure restrictions, while 674 belong to displaced families and cannot reach their classrooms.

The families want the military to lift the closures so they can return home.
