Israeli Forces Demolish Homes and Shell Towns Across Southern Lebanon

Israeli forces opened heavy machine-gun fire on the towns of Khiam and Qantara. Homes were also set on fire in Qantara, the National News Agency reported.

The Israeli army carried out an explosion in the town of Tayri, located in the Bint Jbeil district. Artillery fire targeted Wadi al-Hujeir toward the town of Touline using 155-millimeter shells.

Artillery shells struck areas around Kfar Shuba in the Arqoub region. The outskirts of Hadatha in the Bint Jbeil district and Wadi Zibqin in the Tyre district were also hit.

The area between Mayfadoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiya came under intermittent artillery fire. Separately, Israeli forces blew up a house belonging to Hassan Nabaa, a resident of Kfar Shuba, on the Kfar Shuba-Sedana Hill-Shebbaa road. The blast destroyed everything inside the property, according to the agency.

An interceptor missile exploded above the town of Taybeh without any details given. Contact was lost with a young man from Rub Thalathin after he stopped his vehicle in Wadi al-Hujeir and walked toward Qantara.

The events followed technical military talks held on October 20 and 21 between Beirut and Tel Aviv in Tampa, Florida, sponsored by the US.

The meetings ended without a joint statement or announced breakthrough. Sources said the two sides agreed to continue talking despite disputes over an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon and the disarmament of Hezbollah.

Beirut and Tel Aviv reached a Framework Agreement on June 26. It set out a gradual Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory in return for deploying the Lebanese army and disarming armed groups.

The plan involves pilot areas for implementation. It has so far been applied in three towns, while more than 50 towns remain under Israeli occupation.

Israel has pressed on with military operations in Lebanon despite the deal. These attacks have killed at least 4,386 people and wounded 12,407 since March 2, displacing more than 1 million people.

Israel occupies parts of southern Lebanon, holding some areas for decades and others since the 2023-2024 war. Its forces advanced about 10 kilometres into Lebanese territory during the latest conflict.
