US-Russia-China Summit Would Benefit Global Security, Rubio Says

A high-level meeting between the leaders of the United States, Russia, and China would benefit the international community. US official Marco Rubio made these remarks while speaking to reporters in India.

Rubio stated that an opportunity exists for President Donald Trump to engage in trilateral discussions at the leader level. He noted that the American president is open to a conversation focusing on arms control.

Communication among the three major nuclear-armed nations is normal, according to Rubio. He rejected the notion that diplomatic engagement functions as a reward and asserted that the administration does not view talks as a concession.

Maintaining channels of communication forms the basis of diplomacy. Rubio acknowledged that a single summit would not resolve longstanding disagreements between the nations, but stressed the necessity of keeping lines open nonetheless.

The world becomes a safer place when leaders controlling the most powerful nuclear arsenals converse. Rubio noted that Beijing has historically resisted arms control discussions until its nuclear capabilities grew to match those of other major powers.

Having a president willing to attempt such diplomatic efforts is a positive step. These remarks followed statements made by Trump indicating his openness to trilateral discussions alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Nuclear disarmament would form the primary focus of any such meeting. The diplomatic proposal surfaced after a media report indicated that Putin had suggested convening a trilateral gathering next month to address ending the war in Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that discussions are ongoing. He acknowledged the hypothetical possibility of the talks taking place despite no formal agenda having been agreed upon yet.
