Trump Stresses Caution in Ongoing Iran Negotiations

US President Donald Trump has instructed American officials to avoid rushing into any formal agreement with Iran. The President emphasized the need for patience, urging the negotiating team to ensure all aspects of the deal are handled correctly. The ongoing discussions are described by the President as constructive.

In a post shared on social media on Sunday, Trump noted that both sides need to take the time required to complete the process properly. This directive comes just 24 hours after he indicated that the majority of the framework had been established, describing the progress as a memorandum of understanding.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei acknowledged that while there has been some progress, significant gaps remain on critical issues. According to US reports, the current talks do not constitute a final treaty. Several complex matters, including the scope and timeline for lifting sanctions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and limitations on Iran’s nuclear program, remain under debate.

The potential deal has sparked a heated debate within US political circles, with several Republicans criticizing what they perceive as excessive flexibility toward Tehran. Meanwhile, reports from Axios and CBS News suggest that the administration is also considering a new military contingency plan against Iran. The cancellation of leave for members of certain US military and intelligence units, following Trump’s meetings with advisors, has fueled speculation about a potential escalation.
