Kylian Mbappé Inspires Real Madrid Win While Manuel Neuer Sets Record

Kylian Mbappé scored for the seventh match running on Saturday as Real Madrid pulled provisionally level on points with La Liga leaders Barcelona after a 3-0 win at 10-man Valencia. Federico Valverde and Arda Guler scored first-half goals to put Madrid in control at the Mestalla stadium. Mbappé added a third in the second half, bursting on to a pass by Guler to beat Stole Dimitrievski and squeeze home his 13th league goal of the campaign.

Reigning champions Barcelona visit third-placed Atlético Madrid on Sunday, aiming to move back clear. José Mourinho’s Madrid dominated the fixture to secure an eighth win in a row across all competitions.

In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory over Mainz on Saturday. Manuel Neuer became Bayern’s oldest player at 40 years and 225 days, overtaking Bernd Dreher, but was forced off before half-time with a recurrence of a foot injury. He was replaced by Jonas Urbig after a first-half error almost produced an equaliser for Mainz when Lee Jae-sung put the ball in the net, though the effort was ruled out for offside.

Data from Sofascore and Opta shows that mistake was Neuer’s fifth leading to a goal in his previous 17 Bundesliga games. Harry Kane provided two assists for Joshua Kimmich and 18-year-old Lennart Karl as Bayern extended their unbeaten away run in the league to 31 games. Bayern maintained their lead at the top of the Bundesliga from Borussia Dortmund with both clubs on 21 points from nine games, though Bayern hold a superior goal difference.

Borussia Dortmund defeated Elversberg 2-1 thanks to two goals from Felix Nmecha. Third-placed RB Leipzig won 5-2 at home to Augsburg, while Jonathan Burkardt scored a 93rd-minute equaliser for Eintracht Frankfurt in a 2-2 draw at Paderborn. Werder Bremen missed the chance to climb into the top four after losing 1-0 at Stuttgart following an early goal from Maximilian Mittelstädt.

In Ligue 1, Illia Zabarnyi scored the only goal as a weakened Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 1-0 win over Troyes to secure 11 consecutive victories in all competitions. The Ukraine defender headed in Senny Mayulu’s cross in the 39th minute at the Parc des Princes. Paris FC won 1-0 away to Auxerre with a second-half goal by Mali forward Lassine Sinayoko, who turned in an assist by Pablo Pagis.

Roma moved up to second in Serie A with a 3-0 win over Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico. Mario Hermoso opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Sebastian Walukiewicz turned the ball into his own net three minutes later. Rodrigo Mora added a third in the 58th minute to seal the result.
