Chinese robot breaks Usain Bolt 100m world record

A humanoid robot developed by Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor completed a one-hundred-metre sprint in nine point three two seconds, according to Reuters and Al Jazeera reports. The robot, named Lightning, achieved this feat during a preparatory test event for the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. This performance surpassed the nine point five eight second men‍‍`s world record established by Jamaican sprinting legend Usain Bolt at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in two thousand and nine.

During the trial run, the machine reached a peak velocity of fourteen point five metres per second, state media broadcasts confirmed. Industry analysts noted that the breakthrough highlights rapid advancements in hardware engineering and artificial intelligence integration.

Prior to this sprinting milestone, the robot secured victory in the twenty-one-kilometre Beijing half marathon in April with a time of fifty minutes and twenty-six seconds.

Engineers extended the robot‍‍`s legs by ten centimetres to one point zero five metres ahead of the current competition.

Chinese policymakers have strongly positioned humanoid robots as a strategic emerging industry to accelerate automation in manufacturing and logistics sectors. The event has drawn international attention to the accelerating convergence of robotics and athletics.
