Four Juveniles Charged Following Sunnybank Car Theft

Queensland Police have officially charged four juveniles in connection with a vehicle theft that occurred in Sunnybank on the evening of June 5. According to the official police report, the incident began around 7:30 PM when a blue BYD Shark was allegedly stolen from a shopping center carpark located on McCullough Street. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 8:10 PM, officers reportedly sighted the vehicle being operated in a dangerous manner within the Woodridge area.

A coordinated police effort was launched to track the vehicle as it traversed several Brisbane suburbs before returning to the Logan region. In an attempt to neutralize the threat and prevent further danger to the public, officers successfully deployed a Tyre Deflation Device (TDD) in Woodridge. Despite this intervention, the vehicle reportedly continued to be driven erratically until the driver lost control on Birun Street. Police immediately intervened, and four juveniles were arrested at the scene.

Following their detention, the juveniles were formally charged with a variety of offenses. A 13-year-old boy from Eagleby faces one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company, dangerous operation of a vehicle, an evasion offense at night, and driving without a valid license. He has been remanded in custody to appear before the Beenleigh Childrens Court on June 8. A second 13-year-old, from Waterford West, was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company and has been remanded to reappear in the Beenleigh Childrens Court on June 12.

An 11-year-old boy, also from Waterford West, was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle while armed in company, as well as possession of a knife in a public place. He remains in custody and is scheduled to reappear in the Beenleigh Childrens Court on June 12. Finally, a 14-year-old boy from Kingston was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in the Brisbane Childrens Court on June 16.
