A wave of 51 coordinated arson and incendiary attacks struck southern Thailand on Saturday night, leaving at least three people wounded and damaging multiple local government offices and vehicles, according to military authorities.
The Internal Security Operations Command stated that the synchronized incidents took place across the southern border provinces between 8:00pm and midnight, targeting administrative buildings, telecommunications infrastructure, and utility poles. Narathiwat province experienced the highest concentration of violence, prompting local military commands to enforce an overnight curfew.
Emergency responders and firefighters worked through the night to control blazes at commercial and administrative sites, while security forces established checkpoints across the affected districts. Three civilians sustained injuries during a roadside explosion in Narathiwat and were subsequently transferred to local medical facilities for treatment.
What remains unclear is which specific separatist faction orchestrated the synchronized assaults.
Regional security forces remain on high alert as investigators examine physical evidence and review intelligence reports to prevent further escalations across the southern provinces.
