Allah has created everything in this universe with supreme beauty and a precise purpose. The beauty of a plant lies in its green leaves and vibrant flowers, while its purpose is to produce grains and fruits. Similarly, the beauty of a garment lies in its color and design, yet its ultimate purpose is to cover and protect the human body. Earthly beauty captures the human eye and heart, but its true intention is to guide people toward Allah and prepare them for success in the Hereafter.
Behind this external beauty lies a great goal: faith and righteous deeds.
When people forget this core purpose, they become trapped in the illusions of the world. They forget the Creator, become obsessed with the creation, and consider fleeting luxuries as the ultimate goal of life. However, the Prophets and their followers did not immerse themselves in the world`s glitter; instead, they dedicated themselves to faith, righteous deeds, seeking Allah`s pleasure, and spreading the religion. They did not allow worldly attachments to deter them from their ultimate mission.
Modern people are increasingly attracted to the world`s beauty, entertainment, and luxuries.
However, Islam does not teach us to abandon the world; rather, it teaches us to use this world as a means of preparation for the Hereafter. As believers, our primary responsibility is to perform righteous deeds while fulfilling necessary worldly needs. Worship is not limited to prayer, fasting, or pilgrimage; every lawful act that supports the faith is also considered an act of worship. If life’s beauty, wealth, or status becomes a barrier to the path of obedience, a believer must prioritize the love of Allah and His Messenger (PBUH) over their own desires.
Allah states in the Holy Quran, "But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and
, do not forget your share of the world." (Surah Al-Qasas, 28:77).This verse offers a unique directive for balancing our worldly existence with the needs of the eternal life. It implies that enjoying the world is not forbidden, provided it does not cause us to neglect our ultimate accountability. In another verse, Allah highlights the true nature of worldly life: "Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children." (Surah Al-Hadid, 57:20).
Instead of getting distracted by this competition, Allah invites us to race toward His forgiveness and Paradise.
Allah further declares, "Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it, that We may test them
which of them is best in deed." (Surah Al-Kahf, 18:7). Therefore, the beauty of the world is not meant to deceive us, but to serve as a test. The successful person is the one who uses the world as a provision for the Hereafter and makes Allah`s pleasure the highest goal of their life. The failed person is the one who falls for the temporary illusions of the world and forgets the eternal life. Finally, we must ensure we do not lose ourselves in the dazzle of this world.
May Allah protect us from the illusions of this world. May He grant us the steadfastness to remain firm in faith and righteous deeds. May our lives not end merely in consumption and luxury, but instead serve as a bridge toward achieving Paradise—this is the prayer we offer to our Creator.
