Israeli forces arrested thirty-six Palestinians across the occupied West Bank on Thursday during a series of military raids in multiple towns and villages. The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported the arrest figures, citing information gathered by the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society and local security sources.
,Military personnel detained ten individuals during sweeps through towns and villages in the Jenin governorate. Security forces took five people into custody in the Hebron governorate, including former prisoner Shorok al-Badan, who was detained during a raid on the town of Tuqu.
,The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission stated that Israeli forces arrested fourteen people in the village of Khirbet Jawaya in Masafer Yatta. Security sources reported that three more Palestinians were taken into custody elsewhere in the Hebron governorate.
,Military operations also extended to the Nablus and Jerusalem areas. Three additional Palestinians were detained during raids in the village of Burin, the town of Awarta, and the Qalandiya refugee camp.
,Alongside the arrests, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented seventeen separate attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against Palestinian farmers and their land on Thursday. These incidents coincided with the ongoing olive harvest season across governorates including Hebron, Qalqilya, Nablus, Ramallah and el-Bireh, Jenin, and Salfit.
,The violence involved direct assaults on farmers and actions to prevent them from reaching their fields. Perpetrators also stole agricultural equipment and crops, burned olive trees, issued threats at gunpoint, and discharged live ammunition.
,The Commission stated that this pattern of violence targets the olive harvest. Officials warned that these actions undermine the ability of Palestinians to access their land and maintain their livelihoods.
,These incidents surrounding the olive harvest have drawn international condemnation. On Wednesday, United States Democratic congressional candidate Brad Lander was briefly detained and given a warning by the Israeli military while volunteering to help Palestinian farmers harvest olives in the occupied territory.
