Eisenkot Vows to Replace Netanyahu After Election

Israeli opposition politician Gadi Eisenkot stated on Tuesday that he intends to replace the administration led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Writing on X, Eisenkot reported that he had spent the day holding meetings to carry out the wishes of voters.

Eisenkot outlined his primary objective to establish a new administration. Long working days still lie ahead, he noted, focusing on the task entrusted to his political camp.

The goal involves bringing change to the country and forming a Zionist government committed to military conscription. He asserted that citizens had expressed a lack of confidence in the current leadership.

Voters showed no trust in the government of October 7 and draft evasion, Eisenkot said. He also criticised the broader coalition supporting Netanyahu, describing that bloc as being at its lowest point in two decades.

Addressing his supporters, Eisenkot expressed gratitude for their backing. He noted the weight of responsibility and the trust placed in him by hundreds of thousands of citizens.

His newly formed party represents Israelis across society. He described the political force as a credible and responsible alternative administration.

We will act and succeed, Eisenkot pledged regarding the formation of a new government. Provisional election returns showed tight margins in the legislature as ballots continued to be tabulated.

With nearly ninety percent of the votes counted, Netanyahu’s bloc was projected to win 53 seats in the 120-member Knesset. The rival bloc led by Eisenkot was projected to secure 48 seats.

Two predominantly Arab parties were projected to win a combined 19 seats. Neither major rival bloc reached the threshold of 61 seats required for a parliamentary majority.

Election officials indicated that the figures remained provisional on Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands of double-envelope ballots, which include votes cast by soldiers and diplomats, still awaited counting.
