Israeli forces detained five Palestinians during military operations in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office reported that troops entered the town of Burin south of Nablus and searched residential properties before detaining four young men.
Military personnel arrested another young man in a separate operation at the Qalandiya refugee camp north of East Jerusalem. The detentions follow a pattern of frequent military incursions by the Israeli army across the West Bank.
Palestinian figures show these near-daily arrest raids target men, women and children. Operations frequently involve physical assaults on family members inside their homes alongside widespread destruction of household property.
Official Palestinian estimates indicate that about 9,350 Palestinian prisoners are held in Israeli detention facilities, including 90 women and 350 children. Human rights groups report that detainees face severe conditions, including torture, starvation and medical neglect, which have caused numerous deaths.
The Israeli military has escalated its operations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since the conflict in Gaza began in October 2023. These intensified incursions coincide with an increase in settler violence across the territory.
Palestinian authorities report that military attacks and violence in the West Bank have killed more than 1,220 people since October 2023. Around 13,350 others have sustained injuries, and total arrests across the territory have exceeded 26,000 individuals.
