Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts Placed on Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve on Saturday. The move comes two days after the franchise confirmed he had been diagnosed with a blood clot in his calf.

The move sidelines the star player for the immediate future. Hurts was initially ruled out on Thursday ahead of the team fixture against Carolina.

Team officials stated that Hurts suffered the injury when he took a cleat to his calf during an encounter against the Los Angeles Rams on 4 October.

The quarterback informed medical staff of the problem following a practice session on 8 October. Despite the issue, he returned to practice the next day before travelling with the squad to London for a match against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Eagles detailed the timeline in a statement released on Thursday. Medical personnel performed an ultrasound on Saturday, 10 October, after the team arrived in the British capital following their flight and walk-through session.

"Out of an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed on Saturday following the team’s flight to London and walk-through," the statement read.

"The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot," the franchise added.

Club doctors in London reviewed the diagnostic results alongside the medical staff. They concluded that continued mobility and physical activity were acceptable, allowing Hurts to take part in the fixture.

Medical professionals recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of both the game and the return flight back to Philadelphia.
