Southern Lebanon came under renewed Israeli air attacks on Sunday dawn that killed at least four people and injured 20 others, Lebanon`s official National News Agency and Al Jazeera reported. The strikes hit several populated areas across the south, targeting Nabatieh, Arab Salim, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and Kfar Reman. In the village of Arab Salim, Israeli warplanes struck an area shortly after issuing a forced evacuation directive, killing two women and wounding six residents. Lebanon`s Health Ministry confirmed that a separate strike in Nabatieh al-Fawqa killed two more individuals and left two wounded.
Civilian infrastructure sustained severe structural damage during the morning bombardments. In Nabatieh city, an airstrike demolished a historic landmark owned by the brother of a sitting member of parliament, while nearby government offices housing regional finance and agriculture departments were heavily damaged. Another bombardment in Kfar Reman flattened the residence of the municipality`s former mayor, sending five wounded civilians to local medical centers for emergency treatment. Strikes also destroyed municipal park facilities in Nabatieh and damaged sections of Ghandour hospital in Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
Intensive bombardments continue to batter towns across southern governorates.
Israeli military officials claimed the operation was launched after two drones crossed toward their positions in southern territory, terming the act a flagrant violation of existing ceasefire terms. Hezbollah countered that Tel Aviv has systematically used alleged pretexts to continue demolitions of residential villages under broad Western protection. Official records in Beirut document that Israeli offensives have claimed more than 4,300 lives across Lebanon since March.
Despite framework agreements reached in June, local authorities routinely report artillery barrages and targeted demolitions inside Lebanon`s sovereign boundary. Security reports from Israeli media indicate that military commanders are examining options to pull select units slightly closer to the border, though political authorities have not finalized the transfer of security controls. Qatar`s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held phone discussions with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Saturday, emphasizing diplomatic efforts toward regional de-escalation.
