US Military Conducts New Strikes Against Targets in Southern Iran

The United States has conducted new airstrikes on southern Iran, specifically targeting Iranian missile sites and boats identified as attempting to deploy mines. According to an official statement from US Central Command, the strikes were carried out in self-defense to protect American troops from threats posed by Iranian forces operating in the region. The strikes targeted an area near the port city of Bandar Abbas.

US Central Command spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins stated that the military is maintaining a defensive posture while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire. Iranian state media reported that explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas and that local officials are investigating the incident. Tehran has not yet provided an official response to the military action.

Peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran remain complex and slow-moving. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqai recently noted that while talks have seen some progress, a final agreement is not imminent. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking during an official visit to India, expressed optimism that a deal remains possible through continued diplomatic dialogue.President Trump is seeking a favorable agreement.

Rubio emphasized that the US is committed to keeping vital maritime routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz, open for international commerce. Recent clashes between US and Iranian naval vessels have complicated the diplomatic environment. While President Trump has signaled that negotiators should not rush into an agreement, the situation remains fluid as both nations weigh the consequences of further escalation.
