Storm Boelo Set to Strike Northern UK This Weekend

Britain is preparing for its second named storm of the season as Storm Boelo heads for the country over the weekend.

The Met Office stated that the severe weather will impact the north. Northern Ireland, Scotland and parts of northern England will bear the brunt of the conditions on Saturday.

“Storm Boelo will bring strong winds and heavy rain to Northern Ireland, Scotland and parts of northern England over the weekend, impacting the opposite end of the country to Storm Austen,” said Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster Chris Bulmer.

Forecasters reported that heavy rain will accompany the strong winds, creating a difficult weekend of weather.

“The strong winds will be accompanied by heavy rain, making for an impactful weekend of weather. Severe weather warnings and forecast detail will continue to develop, so people should keep up to date with the forecast over the next few days,” Bulmer said in a statement on Thursday.

Boelo arrives shortly after the season’s first named system. Storm Austen was announced less than forty-eight hours earlier and is expected to reach the country on Friday.

The Met Office issued one amber and two yellow wind warnings for Storm Austen, covering Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly and parts of western Devon.

“Storm Boelo is a separate low pressure system to Storm Austen which will bring strong wind and heavy rain to southern parts on Thursday night and Friday. Storm Austen clears into the North Sea by Friday evening,” the Met Office statement added.

Forecasters advised the public to monitor updates as warnings continue to develop ahead of the weekend.
