Pilgrims Move to Mina as Annual Hajj Rituals Begin

The annual Hajj pilgrimage is set to commence on Monday, the 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah, as millions of pilgrims begin moving toward Mina. In accordance with Saudi government guidelines, many pilgrims have already started their journey on Sunday evening to ensure a smooth transition into the primary rites of the Hajj. This movement marks the beginning of a profound spiritual journey for Muslims from across the globe.Pilgrims are gathering in the tent city of Mina.

Upon arrival in Mina, pilgrims will spend the day engaged in prayer, performing the Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers as per the Sunnah. On the following day, the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah, they will move toward the plain of Arafat. Standing on Arafat is considered the essential pillar of the Hajj. After the Hajj sermon, pilgrims will combine and shorten their prayers before remaining on the plain until sunset, dedicating their time to supplication and reflection.

Following sunset, pilgrims will travel to Muzdalifah to spend the night under the open sky, performing Maghrib and Isha prayers. On the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah, before the break of dawn, they will return to Mina to perform the symbolic stoning of the Jamarat. This will be followed by the ritual sacrifice and the shaving or trimming of hair, completing the initial rites of the Hajj.

The subsequent days, the 11th and 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah, will involve remaining rites before pilgrims depart Mina before sunset on the 12th. This year, it is estimated that between 1.6 and 1.8 million Muslims from around the world will participate in the pilgrimage. Bangladesh has sent approximately 78,000 pilgrims to join this global gathering.
