Renowned Bangladeshi folk singer Kuddus Boyati has been navigating the corridors of local courts for the past 13 years to reclaim his legally purchased land in Netrokona. In a recent video message shared on social media platforms, the veteran musician alleged that local influential individuals forged fake deeds to forcefully occupy his property. He confirmed that the original ownership papers, along with digitally updated tax receipts, have remained officially registered under his name since the purchase.
However, taking advantage of his sudden illness, the opponents constructed illegal houses on the site.
Providing further details, the folk artist noted that the occupation began about seven years ago when he fell severely ill and was bedridden. Local opportunists seized the moment to eye the valuable plot, creating fraudulent documents and quickly establishing permanent residences on land that Boyati had previously held in peaceful possession. Following the discovery of this blatant deed forgery, the dispute escalated into a formal civil lawsuit within the domestic judicial system, where it has remained gridlocked for over a decade. The prolonged legal entanglement has caused the celebrated traditional musician immense mental harassment and continuous financial distress.
Boyati explicitly clarified to reporters that the illegal occupants do not possess any prominent political affiliations or institutional backing. Expressing his deep frustration over the sluggish judicial process, the singer lamented that land disputes in the country are so complex that grandfathers, fathers, and sons may pass away before a civil case concludes. The court had initially scheduled the highly anticipated final verdict for April 22. However, because the original seller from whom Boyati purchased the land passed away recently, the court temporarily suspended the announcement of the judgment.
Previously, when the allegations of document forgery first emerged, the court issued an injunction restraining both parties from modifying the property or erecting new structures. Despite this legal mandate, the opposing party exploited Boyati`s physical absence and long-term illness to unlawfully cement their presence on the plot. The legendary folk icon is now urging the judiciary to evaluate his clear, unassailable evidence to deliver a fair verdict and grant him permanent relief from this exhausting legal ordeal.
