Israel Carries Out Fresh Strikes and Shelling in Southern Lebanon

Israeli military forces carried out fresh aerial and artillery bombardments across several districts in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. The operations marked ongoing violations of a ceasefire agreement mediated by the United States.

An unmanned aerial vehicle dropped two bombs on a residential building located between the towns of Shoukin and Mayfadoun in the Nabatieh district. Local authorities confirmed that no injuries resulted from the strike.

Israeli artillery also shelled the al-Sawwan area on the outskirts of Mayfadoun intermittently. Another strike hit the locality of Mansouri within the Tyre district, according to the National News Agency.

Israeli troops detonated two large explosive charges in the al-Ruwais neighbourhood of Zawtar al-Sharqiya. The state news agency provided no other details on the controlled blasts.

Further east, an Israeli airstrike hit the outskirts of Qantara in the Wadi al-Saluki region of the Marjayoun district.

In a separate incident in the Tyre district, a scrap metal collector was injured when an unidentified suspicious object detonated at the Deir Kifa junction. Officials did not release information on the medical condition of the injured person.

The military actions occurred despite a US-sponsored agreement reached between Lebanon and Israel on June 26. That accord stipulates a gradual Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory alongside the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed groups.

Military operations by Israel have persisted despite the diplomatic arrangement. The conflict has caused at least 4,386 deaths and 12,407 injuries since March 2, forcing more than 1 million people from their homes.

Israeli forces maintain occupation in parts of southern Lebanon, holding some areas for decades and others captured during the 2023 to 2024 war. During the recent escalation, ground forces advanced approximately 10 kilometres into Lebanese territory.
