UN Commission Accuses Israel of Ongoing War Crimes in Gaza

More than 75,000 Palestinians have died across the Occupied Palestinian Territory since October 7, 2023. The total includes at least 21,500 children and 11,000 women, according to Commission Chair Srinivasan Muralidhar.

,

Muralidhar delivered his statement by video conference on Tuesday. He failed to obtain a visa to travel to New York despite his efforts to secure one, and spoke before the UN General Assembly to present the commission’s latest findings.

,

Israeli forces continue to kill and injure civilians, including children, who approach or cross the Yellow Line in Gaza, the report stated. Despite a ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025, the Israeli army has continued daily attacks.

,

Those attacks have killed at least 1,551 Palestinians and injured 5,573 others, Gaza health ministry figures show. The commission said Israeli forces maintain violations across the enclave.

,

The situation in the occupied West Bank has also deteriorated sharply. Israeli military operations and violence by Israeli occupiers form part of a coordinated attack against Palestinians, the commission stated.

,

The report identifies several key objectives behind these actions, which include the expansion of settlements, annexation of Palestinian territory, and the displacement of residents.

,

Israel has committed crimes against humanity in the West Bank, the commission reported. These crimes include extermination, torture, rape, and other forms of sexual violence.

,

Investigators also found that Palestinian children had faced persecution because of their age. Gender-based violence is being used to displace, subjugate, and destabilize Palestinians.

,

The report addressed actions by Palestinian authorities as well. Palestinian security forces have increasingly used unnecessary or disproportionate force against Palestinians in the West Bank since October 7, 2023.

,

The Palestinian Authority has also failed to conduct effective and impartial investigations into killings, along with failing to provide remedies for victims and their families.

,

Muralidhar called on Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territory. He urged the state to evacuate settlements and remove obstacles to Palestinian self-determination.

,

He also asked UN member states to stop providing political, military, economic, or financial assistance that helps maintain the occupation and settlements. States must use all available means to prevent and punish genocide and support the International Criminal Court, he said, particularly amid recent US sanctions against the court and its officials.
