According to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim Jong Un stated during his inspection that the nation’s ability to produce weapons-grade nuclear material has more than doubled since five years ago. During the visit, the leader was briefed on advanced production technologies and reviewed the regime’s long-term nuclear goals.

According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, the facility unveiled on Thursday is believed to be North Korea’s third uranium enrichment center. This follows a previous revelation in September 2024, when Pyongyang displayed another secretive enrichment plant. Historically, North Korea first showcased its enrichment capabilities to foreign experts at the Yongbyon nuclear complex in 2010.
