Five more children have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours. The Directorate General of Health Services confirmed the developments in its daily monitoring report released on Monday. The recent casualties were recorded between Sunday morning and Monday morning, although none of these specific cases had been officially confirmed as measles prior to their passing.
An additional 1,405 children exhibited symptoms of the disease during the same 24-hour window.
Official monitoring data indicates that a total of 464 children have lost their lives since the current outbreak escalated on March 15. Within this total pool, 75 fatalities were laboratory-confirmed measles patients, while the remaining 389 individuals died showing severe respiratory or systemic symptoms. Institutional records show that a total of 54,911 children nationwide have developed initial indications of the highly contagious viral infection over the past two months.
A significant proportion of these young patients required immediate clinical isolation and advanced medical support inside state-run facilities. Hospital registries confirm that 42,868 children were formally admitted to emergency units across the country during this period. Through proactive medical intervention, 38,980 patients successfully recovered and were discharged to their respective homes. Public health laboratories have officially confirmed the virus in 7,856 children since mid-March.
