Eid Al Adha 2026 is being celebrated today, Wednesday (May 27), with deep religious devotion and festive joy across Saudi Arabia and various countries in the Middle East. Muslims throughout the region started their morning attending special Eid prayers, followed by the traditional ritual of animal sacrifice. A joyous atmosphere has taken over major cities in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait as communities gather to mark the holy occasion.Nearly 1.6 million international pilgrims are currently executing their final Hajj duties.
On Tuesday, the massive crowd of believers observed `Wukuf-e-Arafat`, which marks the absolute peak of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The entire plain of Mount Arafat resonated with the emotional prayers and collective chants of `Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik` from pilgrims clad in seamless white Ihram garments. Pilgrims spent the entire afternoon standing in intense supplication, seeking divine forgiveness and blessings for the global community.
The main Hajj sermon was delivered at the historic Namirah Mosque by the esteemed Imam of Masjid al-Haram, Sheikh Ali Al Hudhaify. In his address, the Imam strongly emphasized the crucial need for unity among Muslim nations, global peace, and adherence to core Islamic values. To ensure the message reached a diverse global audience, the official live sermon was translated and broadcasted in 35 different languages, including Bengali.
Following the conclusion of the day at Arafat, pilgrims traveled to Muzdalifah under the cover of night to collect pebbles. By Wednesday morning, they moved en masse to the tent city of Mina to perform the symbolic stoning of the devil at the Jamarat complex. This major ritual paves the way for the slaughter of sacrificial animals and the shaving of heads, signaling the successful completion of the core Hajj framework.
