Nahid Rana Cleared for PSL Final: Peshawar Zalmi Owner Confirms

In a significant development for Bangladesh cricket, rising pace sensation Nahid Rana has been granted official permission to participate in the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. Representing Peshawar Zalmi, the young fast bowler had earlier returned to Bangladesh for national duties, leaving his franchise stint incomplete.

However, following a series of discussions and a special request from the Peshawar Zalmi management, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has cleared his path to return to Pakistan for the summit clash.

Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi confirmed the news via a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), where he expressed his gratitude toward BCB President Tamim Iqbal for allowing the pacer to rejoin the squad. Peshawar Zalmi, captained by the legendary Babar Azam, became the first team to secure a spot in the final after a convincing victory over Islamabad United in the Qualifier.

The inclusion of Rana is seen as a major boost for the Zalmi bowling attack, which has been searching for extra pace and aggression ahead of the grand finale in Lahore.

Nahid Rana has been in sublime form lately, making headlines both in domestic and international circuits. During his initial stint in this year‍‍`s PSL, he claimed 7 wickets in just 4 matches, consistently clocking speeds upward of 145 kilometers per hour. After returning home, he continued his dominance in the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand, where he picked up 8 wickets, including a memorable five-wicket haul.

His exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Series award, solidifying his reputation as one of the most dangerous young fast bombers in the world today.

The decision to send Rana back to Pakistan was not without its challenges. Initially, the BCB was hesitant due to the upcoming Test series against Pakistan and the need for injury management. However, given the prestige of the PSL final and the developmental benefits of playing in high-pressure environments, the board decided to release him.

This move has been widely praised by cricket enthusiasts who believe that competing on such a stage will only enhance Rana’s confidence and skill set before he returns to national colors for the red-ball format.

The PSL 2026 Final is scheduled to take place on May 3 at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. While Peshawar Zalmi awaits the winner of the remaining playoff matches to identify their opponent, the focus remains on their fortified lineup.

With Nahid Rana’s raw pace and Babar Azam’s tactical leadership, Zalmi enters the final as a formidable contender for the title. Rana is expected to fly out of Dhaka within the next 48 hours to join his teammates for the final preparations, marking another proud moment for Bangladeshi cricket on the international franchise stage.
