The Friedkin Group is exploring the sale of Everton Football Club less than two years after taking control of the Merseyside outfit. The American consortium completed an acquisition of the Premier League club in 2024 in a deal valued in excess of £400 million. Ownership representatives confirmed that strategic alternatives, including the transfer of a controlling stake, are currently under evaluation.
A formal review of the club`s ownership structure is now under way.
In an official statement, the group noted that it is evaluating new capital solutions for the club, which may include relinquishing controlling interest. The organization inherited substantial financial instability alongside operational challenges on and off the pitch upon assuming operational control. The immediate priority at that stage was establishing baseline financial security, deploying direct investment, and completing the construction of the club`s new stadium.
The consortium indicated that the opening of the venue and the stabilization of operations provided a secure foundation. With that operational groundwork established, ownership concluded that the timing was appropriate to consider the next chapter for the organization.
