Uttar Pradesh Issues Strict Rules for Eid Al-Adha

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has implemented strict guidelines for the upcoming Eid Al-Adha festival. In a high-level review meeting focused on law and order, the government mandated that animal slaughter cannot be performed in open or public spaces. Additionally, a strict prohibition has been placed on blocking public roads for Eid prayer gatherings.Administrative measures have been tightened significantly.

The official directive mandates that Eid prayers must be conducted only within designated mosques, Idgahs, or traditional sites. The administration has warned that blocking public roads for prayers will not be tolerated. Furthermore, officials have been instructed to ensure that no new practices or traditions are introduced during the festival. Pre-designated locations are mandatory for Qurbani, and there is a total ban on the slaughter of cattle, camels, or other legally prohibited animals.

The government has also warned of strict action against illegal slaughterhouses and the sale of meat in open spaces. Officials have been cautioned against keeping extra animals in licensed slaughterhouses beyond their capacity. Police patrols are being increased in sensitive districts such as Aligarh, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Rampur, and Sambhal, with instructions to ensure essential services like electricity and water remain uninterrupted.

Separately, the BJP-led government in West Bengal has also issued new regulations for Eid Al-Adha. The state government now requires official permission for the slaughter of cattle and buffalo, banning public slaughtering and restricting the practice to designated administrative zones.
